Big Picture Reading

The big picture goal of the Online Reading Comprehension Academy, is you guessed it: To teach readers to identify and attack the Big Picture! And while this is simple on the one hand, it does take some intensive and focused training on the other hand. Our Read It Write! program takes you through every step of the process. We will show you exactly what the Big Picture is, how to find it, and how to attack it!

Reading occurs at the four levels shown above. There are definite similarities in how to read at all of these levels and there also definite differences. The 'Read It Write!' Program teaches you How to Read at all four levels. Our Top-Down approach means no matter which we level we are trying to read, we frame an ultimate big picture (Top-Down) goal, and build towards that goal with a step-by-step (Ground-Up) process.  

At each of the four levels of reading, the Big Picture exists, is readily identifiable and is the key to effective reading comprehension. The Big Picture always contains the author's main idea or main thought and at the two longer levels (Chapter and Book), the Big Picture will also include the general reasons which support that main idea.
